NC Ignyte
Code of conduct
NC Ignyte is for high school students. Everyone in the room, including students, mentors, judges, sponsors, and guests, follows these rules.
What we expect
- Treat everyone with respect. Help people who are newer than you.
- Do your own work. Credit teammates and anyone who helps you.
- Keep other teams' ideas to yourself unless they say otherwise.
- Follow the venue rules and the instructions of the organizers.
What is not allowed
- Harassment, bullying, threats, or discrimination of any kind, including based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
- Sexual or inappropriate language, images, or behavior.
- Sharing someone's personal information without permission, including photos or recordings they did not agree to.
- Alcohol, drugs, vaping, or weapons.
- Damaging the venue, equipment, or other people's work.
- Using AI tools to create content that is harmful, deceptive, or that copies someone else's work and presents it as your own.
Working with AI tools
If you use AI tools to help build your demo: Do not put personal information about yourself or anyone else into those tools. Check what the tools produce before you present it, and be ready to explain how your demo works.
Safety
Sessions are in person at a public venue in the downtown Cary area. We share the exact venue by email and text once your application is in. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from sessions unless we announce otherwise. If you feel unsafe at any point, tell an organizer immediately.
Reporting a problem
Tell any organizer in person, or email support@ncignyte.org. Reports are handled privately. A parent or guardian can report on a student's behalf.
Consequences
Depending on what happened, we may give a warning, remove a team from the competition, or remove a person from the program. Organizers make the final call. Serious issues are reported to the venue and, where appropriate, to local authorities.
Changes
We may update this page before the cohort starts. The version posted here is the one in effect.
